Relative Newb looking to learn
A post on reddit has led me to this group and finally!
I have been brewing for 2 years, only started because at the time you couldn't buy Garrison raspberry wheat in NB so I wanted to make my own, there is ALWAYS one on tap now!
Just moved from wort kits to extract kits and looking forward to moving to all grain and recipe experimentation.
I am looking forward to reading the message board and attending events.
** Edit - I've had a heck of a time finding inexpensive supplies locally and am currently ordering from torontobrewing.ca as they seemed to have a nice variety of extract kits, can anyone recommend something better?

Welcome! You should check out the Everwood Ave Brew Shop. The link is in the vendors page. Dave has a lot of stock and always has great service!

Welcome! Like the others said Everwood brew shop is great and I also check out Ontario Beer Kegs. I started as well with the pre made wort with success, moved on to extract kits then all grain. I did partial boils with the extract and topped up with water and got the dreaded home brew twang due to a small pot and the carmilization I was getting from a concentrated boil. If you stick with extract do a full wort boil and your laughing. Lots of experience at your fingertips and great discussion on this site. Doing all grain now and I'll never look back.

Welcome!
Where in NB are you located?
If you are in the SJ area, we do grain group buys regularly where I believe you can order in bulk DME and LME as well.
As for other things, I get most of my yeast and hops from Dave @ Everwood or from OBK.
Cheers,
Jon

Re: Relative Newb looking to learn

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome aboard! Be sure to contact Cheesehead via PM, as he keeps tabs of the Moncton chapter, and will be having a get together on the 28th (coincidentally when I'm in town for work).
