How much vanilla extract in 5 gal Porter?

Post by TimG » Wed Oct 09, 2013 5:43 pm

Seems almost everybody uses beans.. I don't have any and it is already kegged. So looking to add some extract. How much? Start with 4 fl oz and go from there? It's a fairly robust porter (6.7% or something like that) and sat on 6 oz of cocoa nibs for 7-8 days as well.

Thanks,

4 oz sounds like a lot. And use good extract, not grocery store crap.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Yup, did a bit more reading and 4 oz is a lot. I'll go with 2 oz and Jamie has some good stuff from Mexico or something like that.

Thanks! :headbang:

Whatever amount we added I think it will mature nicely
