Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
We brewed up an APA and some Harvey's Bitter yesterday afternoon, it was a nice day for brewing

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Having a few of these now, getting ready for the game. Very nice beer, I'd say just a touch overcarbed, maybe by .5 volumes, but that's easy to deal with after the first pour. Good job, and thanks!!maltster wrote:The weather was nice so I decided to brew outside on the deck today. I'm trying LD's/Chalmers' "Satan's (Maple) Porter" with a little added fenugreek.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Friday is brewday - its Tor Kolsch (uhh, that's Gateway in German). Possibly my last lawnmower beer of the summer - tho summer lingers until late September around here, so I can see myself brewing another weizen or something.

Yea, I actually primed that batch with home made maple syrup and kinda guessed at the amount as I wasn't sure of the sugar content.mr x wrote:Having a few of these now, getting ready for the game. I somehow managed to plug my CFC last night. Had to back flush it with C02. Other than that, not too bad of a brew.

Chlorofluorocarbons are bad. Carbon dioxide is bad too, but in a different way. You're lucky I don't work for Environment Canada any more.mr x wrote:I somehow managed to plug my CFC last night. Had to back flush it with C02. Other than that, not too bad of a brew.

Family picnic at Amherst Shore Provincial Park. I considered calling it Alexander McKenzie's India Pale Ale, but I was in a hurry so went with the other name.akr71 wrote:What's the Amherst Shore component?KMcK wrote:Hoping to finally pull together my A.S.A.P. (Amherst Shore American Pale) Ale.

Is FermCap (or similar) available locally? Just barely avoided a boil-over this weekend.
Brewed a 10g batch of wheat ale and plan to ferment half with raspberries and half with apricots.

Does that stuff control the krausen as well? I just cleaned up a sticky mess on my floor after my hefeweizen pushed the lid off the bucket.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Yes it does... it also increases hop alpha utilization as much as 7 - 10 %, and helps to increase head retention when used in the fermenterTim Gregory wrote:Does that stuff control the krausen as well? I just cleaned up a sticky mess on my floor after my hefeweizen pushed the lid off the bucket.
