Brand new to home brewing

Post by Bukes » Tue Jun 04, 2013 11:00 am

Hey Guys,

My name is Scott, I am from Moncton, NB and I am just getting started with home brewing. I have wanted to do this for a long time and I am finally getting started.

I am wondering where would be the best place in the Moncton area to purchase my initial supplies and Beer Recipe Kits. Also, would I be better off buying a supply kit from a brew store or would i be better off (money wise) to purchase the supplies individually? Any advice is hugely appreciated. Cheers!

:welcome:

Hopefully, the NB/SAAZ guys will be able to give you some info on gear/ingredients.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

:welcome:

For the most part, I've purchased my gear online from places like http://www.everwoodavebrewshop.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Same for ingredients, though places like Kent sell propane burners and aluminum pots that are great for getting started with full volume boils.

Also, be sure to check out the Moncton events section. There is a Moncton Brewnosers meeting coming up this Friday: http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... =47&t=4631" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

:welcome: E&L on Elmwood might be the best place in town for supplies/kits.

Its still there - they deal mostly with wine, but do have some beer equipment and ingredients (extract only IIRC).

IMO the best place for equipment in Moncton is E&L on Morton Ave. Maybe not always the best price and depending on who's working the counter, not always the best attitude, but certainly the most selection in Moncton.

Though there's always good deals on kijiji if you are patient. I may be able to pass along a mash tun soon...

Once you have some equipment, I can spare ingredients.

If you need hose, clear and food grade, see KG Chase. They are a hydrolics company in the Saint George industrial park. Buddy of mine works there and its the cheapest place for hose of any size. I get my blow off tubes, siphons tubes, and keg lines there.
