Re: Valley Lambic Project June 8th and 9th
No bird shit? What are you nuts?!
In all seriousness though, I think a good method might be to put a few stakes in the ground and put a tarp over it. Keep the debris out but leave plenty of air flow for inoculation. Plus if it rains, that will keep the rain water out of the mix. Thoughts?
I can likely borrow a tarp and stakes from my dad if you don't have anything like that around, Jeff. Though I may need someone to transport the stakes since I'll have someone in my back seat and hence won't be able to roll down the seat. Actually, the best thing one of those tent type shelters that were at Hoptoberfest. Anyone have one of those they would lend or bring?

Cool - Gavin thinks maybe his parent's have one left over from his sister's wedding, and if not maybe I'll just grab that one at walmart.

So everything is looking good for this weekend. I'm thinking hamburgers for supper as I will be busy and I have lots of good lean grassfed beef. Insert "cheap" here. If you prefer something else bring it along. As for any things to bring, sides and snacks will always be appreciated.

Re: Valley Lambic Project June 8th and 9th
I'm still trying to track down a Gazebo. Gavin's parents haven't been able to find the one they have yet, and the one I thought was $10 at Walmart was just a replacement top for one that's closer to $100... haha. Jeff, have you got any stakes and a tarp kicking around? If not, I can probably get my hands on either or both from my dad, I just won't be able to transport the stakes there myself.
Also, Brenna is tied up until noon, so we can't get there until 1:30~2ish. That pose any problems?

I'm heading to the airport shortly, so without easy forum access until late tonight. Could someone send a mass PM today giving folks the details on the weekend (where, what time the fun starts, what to bring, etc)?

So the tropical storm isn't an issue for this?

What about rain getting into the open coolship? Tarp needs to resist not just bird poop but also rain (much heavier)
Busy this weekend though I would really like to go. Have fun all!!

I am also rather concerned about... My preference would be to do this another weekend, but if that's not an option, I'll still be there.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:What about rain getting into the open coolship? Tarp needs to resist not just bird poop but also rain (much heavier)

Hmm, if it's really raining, not sure how that will affect the wild yeast... Anyone in the know?

Just asked the resident Micro Biologist (Gavin) and heavy rain will definitely pull wild yeast, pollen, etc out of the air. So if we're getting the heavy rain it's calling for, it really isn't a good time for trying this, even if the cool ship shelter does help keep things dry.

We can have redo for sure. Hard to coordinate all the people. Just let me know what we should do.
Let the feedback begin.

I was hoping to be around for this, but gonna be in Moncton. I'd still really like to come if there's a reschedule.
