Wanted: A heat stick in Halifax
Heyas, was wondering if there were any folks in the community that had a heatstick for sale; I've seen plenty of DIY guides for them, but I have basically no electrical experience myself, and high voltage and liquids didn't really seem like the safest place to start. :) My stove can get a rolling boil going if I have the lid on my pot, but obviously this isn't a good situation, and as soon as I take it off it drops back down to a simmer. A heat stick would be ideal to get the extra little boost I need to really get a roll going and keep it going. Anyways, if anyone has one they're selling or knows of a place to get em it'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

If your stove just can't cut it, consider this:

I have an aluminum kettle with a 1500w element built into it that I'd be willing to sell. I used it for stove top30l batches without a problem. Let me know.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Depending on how wide your pot is, you can sometimes overlap two burners with the base (at least partially). I have found that extra bit of umpf can push a rolling boil into effect in a pinch.

Pretty sure I saw a bunch at Quinpool Canadian tire, near the plumbing fittings section. That's all I got, I didn't take a close look at them.
Beer.
