I do, I was initially thinking of building a small collar and then putting a custom wood tower on top with 4 taps (plan overall not specifically for this freezer) but its a lot easier just to run the taps out of a 2x8 collar and I don't have to worry about rigging any fans or crap to keep the tower cool.

I ended up going with a 2x10 or 2x12 (can't remember) collar to clear the kegs over the hump. Alot of boards are not a "true" 10" or 12"....so if you go with a 2x8...measure it before you purchase cause it might not be a "true" 8 ;) . I think the 2x10's were about 9-1/4 wide... And i rigged up a couple cheap fans to circulate things....doesn't cut in as much with the extra space from the collar. My advice....if you're going with a big collar...then you should be good( i wish i was home to measure mine, i can fit 7 with collar, can't remember the freezer measurements though, pics are in the kegerator thread)...but if you were going with a tower or coffin box....then you'd need a bigger freezer cause you wouldn't be able to fit the kegs on the compressor hump. Good luck!!!

Ahh right, like a 2x4 isn't a 2x4. Thanks for the tip, and I have to say i'm probably going to steal your collar design :)

I was thinking black, but if i scuffed up the surface with some 320 or 400 grit couldn't i just use some generic rattle can paint? Also has anyone done the chalk board paint before? I was thinking that could be cool to put either on the front (highly visible but more likely to get rubbed off accidentally) or the top covered (not as visible but less likely to get rubbed off, and I could put a piece of plexi over it.

I did my kegerator (the one I broke) with spray paint. I wanted a gloss look, and it was rather difficult in practice with large surface areas to get an even cover. It also took a lot of $$ worth of paint. I spoke a friend who painted a fridge using roll on paint (presumably house paint) for (I think) the Bus Stop Theatre, Claimed that it came up great. If anyone can back this up, it would potentially save you a lot of time and hassle.

Lookin like I might take the cheep can of tremclad approach :) Maybe i'll just get a 24"x24" piece of plywood and some trim and make a chalkboard in a frame above the keezer, probibly easier :)

Looks like I got screwed on Kijiji. Freezers been humming away for 8 hours and its still freakin 64 degrees inside. F**K. The guy said he had it plugged in for an hour before i got there and it was starting to feel cool so something must have happened on the drive home. I'm not so much pissed about the $25 but its the fact that now i have to deal with a broken freezer. What the hell do I do with it?

I'd say unplug it for a couple of days then retry.......with my deep freezer(got it for free) i knew it worked cause i seen it working. Dragged it home and let it sit for a while without doing anything with it....then finally built my collar, threw some kegs in it, hooked up temp controller, plug er in and she made some awful and weird noises...but wouldn't kick in....spoke to someone else and they said that's normal as the way it circulates if it hasn't been used in a while(not sure if any truth but oh well). Anyways, she finally stopped circulating and weird noises, then finally kicked the compressor in.

if that doesn't work.....put it at the end of your driveway with a price tag of $25.....it'll probably be gone by morning..If you put FREE on it....it'll be there all week...LOL

This will help, and after they remove the CFC you can put it on the curb

http://www.halifax.ca/wrms/cfcprogram.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Thanks guys, I'll leave it until the weekend and if it doesn't work then I'll get the CFC's removed.

Thanks for all the info! The wife also said to chuck it in his driveway, but its kind of a buyer beware thing and the little voice in my head is too loud some times.
