True Canadian Beers

Post by NASH » Sat Mar 26, 2011 11:22 pm

Okay, so this dude is bicycling across Canada, video profiling as many craft breweries as he possibly can along the way. 1st leg of the trek started in Halifax and then he's off to the rest of the country over the next few months. He's a stand-up guy and it's a great thing he's doing so check out his website linked below. There's gonna be a lag-time of at least a couple weeks before we'll see the vids of the latest breweries he's been visiting posted up but it should be a fun journey. He tells me the website was thrown together in a hurry but he'll get it updated with his route et al asap. He's off to PEI from here.

Holy Jesus, is that James Ready's in the background?! There's a lot of bad memories...

Followed a couple of his links. I see the H&T website has been updated. :o

Are the brewers he has listed just places he's planning to go or intended to be a full list? He's missing out on a few if the latter - Yellow Belly in St. John's, Big Tide and Acadie in NB to name a couple.

For now it's a list of breweries, he's aware it's incomplete and will work away at it but basically he's sorta busy getting from point A to B

I wouldn't want to be him right now. That air out there is pretty damn cold for biking. I went on a 30min ride the other day and I felt like I was breathing through a straw.

At least he doesn't have to worry about getting a beer gut. Biking is a great way to burn the calories.

I saw something about him the other day and we exchanged a couple of emails. I thought he was onto a cool idea, too.
We may meet up here when he's over in a week or so!

I think he'll need one of these:

I wish I had some good stuff of my own to dish out... I feel so unprepared! I can only offer the thoughts of a beer fan, literally marooned on an island, somewhat far from the shores of options.
I sent him another message, letting him know you guys in Hali set the bar pretty high. I'll do what I can to be hospitable and do my part to make the Island proud.

I think you guys primed him too well!
:drunk:
He just emailed me - he made it to Pictou only to find out the ferry to PEI doesn't run from there this time of year. Now, he's not going to be able to make it to PEI at all.
Bummer.

Hey there guys,
Glad to see some people are interested in what I'm up too. I am trying to get a complete index of Canadian Breweries so I appreciate any input of missed breweries.

I've added the sites you mentioned, I really appreciate that. As Nash was saying, I hope to try to have links to all the breweries regardless of whether or not i get the chance to visit them. If anyone else on here sees any flaws in my index it would be awesome if you could send me an email at GrahamReid@TrueCanadianBeers.ca and just let me know.

thanks!

I have decided to randomly dig up old threads. Seems that True Canadian beers decided to drink more and type less, lol. I feel this is the natural progression of most blogs.

Mr. X was very accurate in saying I drank more and typed less! Now I'm here a year or so later and I am finally getting to the hours and hours of footage that I shot while traveling. I have finished a few more edits from the East Coast and thought this would be a great place to share.

Rogues Roost Brew Pub

Garrison Brewery

Pump House Brewery

Thanks guys for all your support once again. I have also dived head first into the world of homebrewing! Me and my brother Live broadcast our brew sessions so feel free to tune in when we do and join the chat!

Cheers!
