good idea. There are 15 on the sheet, I could handle bringing a bottle for everyone to take home with them??

Sounds good to I as well... Though we'll see how the logistics work out of exchange the bottles to/from PEI.

Would be great if the exchange could coincide with the RIS 2.0 emptying.

time frame sounds about right.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I'll need to check and see what i've got in the freezer but I'll probably jump on this if I have anything we haven't touched yet either.

I'll update the sheet once I find something cool.

I changed my choice to Cascade as Jason had put down Northern Brewer as well and no one had yet chosen Cascade. I will try and get this going on the weekend after turkey dinner.

Was thinking about this one today...its getting fairly close to that time.
Is everyone planning on brewing around the same time?(end of the month?) Or just whenever we get the time? Im figuring on 5 1/2 wks for it -10 day ferment-1 wk dryhop, and 3 wks for carbing, as bottles seem to be the way to go if we're all bringing a 24 for swapping.

I'm planning on brewing closer to the end of the month so that the beer is still fairly fresh at bottling.

sounds good, I was beginning to panic, Sandy plans to brew this wknd but I think if I can hold off till next wknd that would be more in the timeframe for the aroma hops for bottling. I plan to do a double batch, so to keg one and bottle another as Sandy plans to also.
This will allow us to bring a growler of kegged brew for the meeting, then have bottled reserves for the second meeting concerning single-hopped beers.

End of month works for me as well, which is why I was asking. My freezer only holds 1 at a time, and got the stout in there now, so trying to plan out my schedule....got too many on my to do list!! Lol

Brewing mine tomorrow. I can't find anything in here on mash temps people are using. I'm guessing mid-range?

BTW my recipe is:

2 row 95%
Crystal 75 5% - I don't have any C60 so I'll use 75 and back it off a %
1 oz Citra - 60mins
.5 oz citra - 20 mins
2 oz citra - 0
Mash at ????
US05

What about water treatments? I'll probably hit it with a wee bit of gypsum

I did mine at 152, but still came out a little higher than planned on.

Guess I should get on this soon. As I am only set up for half batch or partial mashes it looks like I'll have to do two mashes to do all grain for a full 23 L size batch.

1056 or us05, I believe there is 15 different smash's, but I'd check the sheet before the meeting to see how many bottles to bring for the meeting. I'm going to bring a growler in addition to bottled beer ;)

hogie wrote:~5% ABV, ~50IBU (60/20min split as per LD), 50g at flame-out, 5% Crystal 60 and 95% 2-row.
The IBU split was 35 IBU's at 60 minutes and ~15 at 20 minutes.

I think we agreed on US-05/1056 and somewhere around 1.056 for OG. Date is December's meeting possibly, or was there going to be a second one for this tasting?

Pretty sure you'll still have enough time to make it in under the wire Jamie, might not hurt to check on the beer in a couple weeks though. Something this simple will likely be ready for bottling/conditioning by then.
