Grain Mill in Cape Breton?

Post by jason.loxton » Wed Sep 26, 2012 9:48 am

Now that I am up in Cheticamp fairly permanently, I need to figure out a replacement for the Noble Grape's mill. (It also seems like now that they've eliminated customers grinding their own, they are probably less excited about you dropping off a sack of base malt on an order of a couple hundred grams of speciality malt.) Does anyone up here have a mill (I am in Sydney two days a week)? If not, maybe I will buy one... and then you're free to use it!

I ordered mine from Hop Dawgs. Nice mill for a decent price. The guy that runs the place is really nice, too.

Interesting. Looks like about $195 with shipping and taxes. I got an estimate from Adventures in Homebrewing for a Cereal Killer grain mill (which seems to be a clone of the Barley Crusher) for $99 US plus $33.74 shipping. But, the border will add HST and possibley other fees. http://www.homebrewing.org/Cereal-Kille ... _2310.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm thinking the price must have went up; I don't recall paying that much.

That's an option too. I don't know what the shipping/brokerage/etc would cost you though

I ended up just buying one from the Noble Grape. So... now there IS a grain mill in Cape Breton. I am in Sydney twice a week and can probably arrange a loan sometimes.

Let me know what you think of it. I'm thinking on putting it on my "wish list".

I've had mine for about a year now and have no complaints.
