Best places to purchase wood for keggerator
Like to make my kegerator a bit more eye appealing. Wondering if anyone knows where the best place is to buy wood?
My plan is to have a four (or six) tap perlick colar system. Top of the kegerator i will likely put some kind of nice tile or backsplace for the surface, and eventually a drip tray.
CO2 will be external to the kegerator so i can maximize the number of kegs.
The front and sides i was thinking of going with 1/4" or 3/8" plywood (maybe pine) and applying a stain.
Thoughts? suggestions?
I'm not much of a woodworker, any hints on making this look good would be great.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

My buddy justin finished his bar with old barn wood, rough type lumber, and it turned out great but it has more of a rustic type finish to it. If you're looking for something you can stain maybe some tounge and groove pine?

Re: Best places to purchase wood for keggerator
Funny you should mention that - I was just debating the same for my new build...and I love woodwork. Thinking raised panels all round, oak, something like the old english/irish ones. Not sure how it affect the cooling tho - seems to be a fair amount of heat coming from the sides of the freezer. Louvered panels maybe....?
Was thinking goodbrothers or east coast specialties (both in dartmouth) for the wood.
Its the only safe way to combine my 2 passions -beer & woodworkin!

Wow, I like the cherry one, but needs a pour shelf/drip tray...maybe thats why she says its not done yet..
@sleepy - I dunno about yours, but mine seems to use the sides/back for heat dissipation(no cooling fins visible) the other problem is I dont think youll find a glue to really bond wood to the shiny plastic surface.

ill have to take a look at mine, but the front is more metallic not plastic. im sure i could use construction grade glue which bonds to metal / wood. cant remember if mine heats a lot in the front or sides.Stusbrews wrote:Wow, I like the cherry one, but needs a pour shelf/drip tray...maybe thats why she says its not done yet..

I used a tube of PLP-premium, that usually will bond most things in this reality
