Dead Keezer!!! and right before the long weekend

Post by mattvincent24 » Thu Jun 28, 2012 7:33 pm

Well it looks like my keezer has bit the dust. It was at 14C this morning and it is set for 7C. Anyone know a good refrigeration tech? The compressor just keeps running but its not getting any colder.

Sounds like a refrigerant leak or maybe a failed expansion valve. Do you hear any liquid/gurgly sounds from inside where the coils are?
Kegged: El Dorado IPA, Rocketfuel 2.0, Wet Hopped Pale, Ryrish Red, Marzen, BN Exchange Dunkel, BN Exchange NEIPA, Lies Lies Lies - Citra <0.5% ale
Fermenting: NZ Pilsner with Enigma, Strawberry brett cider

Yes I do hear liquid/gurgly sounds. But I also hear a darth vader/waterfall/whoosh sound. Also I have frost building on the top part of the back and one side. Normally I don't have any frost. Not sure if I should call a repair man or just get a new freezer. But that would mean I would have to rework the thing.

That Sucks!

I thought mine died once But it was only the fan motor! The worse news is Efficiency Nova Scotia only takes them if they are in working order. So you'll have to call HRM, make an appointment, have the gas removed before you garbage it.

This may be a blessing though - if you're like me after I build something its always "next time I'll do this" or "I should have gone bigger"

How did you end up getting rid of it?

I just came home from vacation to a dead beer fridge (including a freezer full of rotting meat....)
