Hello from Enfield
Hi guys.
I started brewing Festabrew kits about a year ago after I bought a Kegerator that a co-worker was selling. Since then this co-worker and I have started into plans to build a Single tier 3 vessle eHerms brewstand and a multi chamber fermentation chamber / keg conditioner.

Man, everyone signing up for the board has big plans for systems that certainly embarrass what I use. Looking forward to seeing how your build goes, maybe someday I'll seriously consider it myself.

Go big or stay home! FWIW, I think these systems are a waste of money. According to our resident professional brewer, for most highly modified malts, conversion is done in 5 minutes, so hitting the mash-in temp is far more important than anything else. I'd spend the money on fermentation gear.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Welcome from Enfield

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

No, by all means, go nuts. But don't get caught up in internet brewing hype either. As somebody who works in instrumentation, the last thing I would do is spend money automating my homebrew system (maybe a mash stirrer someday). Best bang for buck is on the mlt design and temp. measurement AFAIAC.
This is one of the reasons I want to get something set up for next year at Port Joli. Making killer beer and getting the most out of your money. But extravagant projects are fun too, lol.

If you're referring to my post recently, this is the same build. I don't think there's any influx of people willing to throw a bunch of money at an excessive homebrew setup...just us, hahavgoreham wrote:![]()

I don't think either of us believe, or are claiming any of this is necessary. I'm sure there are plenty of people here that brew better with a lot less.mr x wrote:![]()
