Looking for K type probe

Does anyone have any k type thermocouples? 50Kohm

My brand new Auber probe doesn't work, they are sending me one but say it is 3 weeks out. Not good service.

Looking to find a probe locally, will install the plug end if I have to.

Thermocouples are low Z. I do have one or two K-types in the apartment somewhere though.

If you're measuring 50K ohm it's likely a thermistor - in which case I think all I have kicking around at the moment are 10K NTC.

Tc's have no resistance. Call Nash, I gave him a roll. I'll be up tonight. Tc's are just twsited ends, so a meter should root out the problem

Yeah just measure it with an ohm meter. If you get ~50k, it's a thermocouple. I have a Fluke K type Tc on my desk right now in fact and it reads 0.4ohm which is likely just measurement error. Although at the same time, if it doesn't work at all right out of the box, maybe they gave you a Tc instead of thermistor or vise versa?

K type tc should be about 28 ohms. You can cut and twist the leads anywhere you like.

I have one like this http://www.fluke.com/Fluke/usen/Accesso ... ?PID=55348 at work and it measures 0.4 ohms.
The impedance at DC is dependent on the length and gauge of the wire used - it's not a fixed value (the typical cheapo tiny gauge wire ones that come with most Omega temperature loggers might be around 28ohms - I'll check it out tomorrow if I'm bored for curiosity sake), nor does it matter unless the meter reading it has a low i/p Z and you have crazy long skinny wires connecting the two.

Bottom line is, if you get a reading of some sort in the low range, you should be fine. Open circuit needs repair.
