And that is the usual result. But anything can happen. Depends on volumes, boil times, etc....

yeah indeed. i was expecting his gravity to be low due to poor efficiency, but instead it was low because he didnt get the boil off expected - he used the lid because stuff was falling off the trees. he is kind of a haphazard brewer anyway

Pretty much. Don't worry, I pitched a half packet of yeast and shook for 10 sec. Now fermenting at 97F so it should balance out

Exactly right which is why I tend to spare more, boil longer on beers this size to keep efficiency from taking a nosedive. Usually end up in the 70-73 range on beers this size but this time wound up a little high.

Got mine done today, came in at 24.1 P (1.101 SG) so pretty much on target.
Although I know it's gonna be a while, really looking forward to the first drinks of this bad boy.

We've decided we're going to do a partigyle with the second runnings. Who wants to be a dear and tell us what kind of beer we'll end up with? Assuming 60min @12% boil off, going to add 27L.

Ain't no haters here. I'm down with it long time, lol. I plan to let this beer carb properly for a month or so, and then I'm caging and corking it, and then it's sitting for 3 years at least.

So we brewed up the Glen Rizzle last night. Hit the target efficiency numbers but ended up with too much wort post-boil. Didn't notice that the propane was low for the first part of the boil...

Pitched a 2L starter and it's fermenting like a mother-fucker this morning so I expect solid attenuation.
