Buying second primary fermenter

Post by Dummheit » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:38 pm

Can anyone give me advice on the best place to buy a primary fermenter in Fredericton (looking to run two batches at once)?

I know Noble grape has a location there, it's probably your best bet if you're looking for a food grade bucket.

get some corny kegs, you'll end buying 'em anyways, so switch early and save the cash :) they make great primary/secondary fermenters, store easily and you can fit a lot more into a keezer!

they're better as secondaries because they are only 19 litres max. blow off would suck.

I've stopped using a blow off all together. keeping the primary under pressure (less than 10psi) basically eliminates krausen. just a matter of remembering to vent them once/twice a day. plus cleaning the kegs is way easier afterwards. another good point for kegs is that you can crash cool fast, more heat conducting surface area to rapidly chill them.

Thanks for the advice (BTW, not sure what a corny keg is) but the list of stores is a help.

It's a pepsi or coke keg that homebrewers use to keg their beer.

The Co-op here in Charlottetown sells primaries for $11.99 for the bucket and $2.99 for the lid. I would check the one in Fredericton.

That shipment of cornies was cleared out a while back. Not sure if there's anymore coming down the line or not.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:
