Fermenting under pressure

Post by mjdoyle » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:36 am

have any of you tried it? I currently have 18l of lager in a corny keg fermenting at 15psi. I hear its a good way to lager at higher fermenting temps so i decided to give it a try. i just have no idea what i am going to do when its done. i think i will cold crash at 10 days and then rack to another corny keg.

Just wanted to know if anyone else here has experimented with this and if so ... Any advice?

Thanks,

Mike

Thats the epic thread that gave me the idea. i am now cold crashing and i have aded some isinglass to clear before i transfer to another keg. the next time i am going to try knox gelatin.

do you use any clearing agents? or just cold crash and transfer?

after cold crashing i transfer under pressure through a filter, which takes care of 95% of the flocculent left overs. 5 micron reusable filters (pleated) seem to work best, 1 micron take too long and don't seem to do any better. after use you can back wash them with a keg with a little bit (.25 gal?) of no-rinse sanitiser. got my filter from hopdawgs, though i can't seem to find it on their site now :(
