Weldless Bulkhead Fittings for Keggle

Post by LeafMan66_67 » Fri May 18, 2012 5:37 am

I'm getting ready to convert a keg into my boil kettle. This is my list of parts I plan to pick up. Am I missing anything? Any thoughts?

1/2" Ball Valve SS
1/2" NPT Close Nipple SS
1/2" NPT Full Coupler SS
1/2" NPT Lock Nut SS
1/2" Barb X 1/2" M NPT Barbed Fitting, SS
Silicone Gasket for 1/2" NPT

Haven't determined what to do for a dip tube, but figuring on a piece of copper tubing with a compression connector. Will decide on a false bottom if any in the future.

Thanks,

Derek

I can help with the dip tube and compression fitting if you want to use a 1/2" MPT on the pipe end. I'm not sure you need the coupler. You could use the compression fitting through the side of the kettle, and pull the ball valve tight to the kettle with the gasket making the seal. You would use the locknut on the inside to get the spacing right.

X - Sounds good. Was only thinking of the coupler for flexibility of dip tube since it was undecided. You have to remember - I'm Electrical not Mechanical! All help is appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm ready to do finish my keggle conversion as well, I would be interested in knowing where you get your parts from.

Crane Supply in Dartmouth, Fairview fittings, and McMaster Carr. Do you want a diptube assembly as well?

No, you will be able to cut this to size once I get it together.

Damn, I have the fittings, but I forgot the diptubes. I won't have them up here until next Tuesday, sorry.

No rush. I can grab the fittings from you this week or wait until next when you have the diptube. I'm downtown each day. Wife is out each night this week so evenings are already booked.
