Hello From Ontario
Hello Brewnosers. My name is Chris and I live in Cavan, Ontario. I brew electric and have been since 2003. I have noticed that homebrewing has picked up right across the country, which is great.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I'm originally from the other end of Highway 7 myself (3.5 hours away)- a former Ottawa Valley boy.

Welcome McGruff!
You're not the furthest west of the Brewnosers, but you are helping us expand our territory! Would love to hear about good beer bars/stores/brewpubs in your 'hood for those of us who travel. There should be a Beer Abroad thread somewhere.
Cheers!

Re: Hello From Ontario
I am from Peterborough. We have two local breweries. Olde Stone House and The Publican House. They both make good beer, nothing stands out as fantatic, but good beer anyways. Toronto has a lot of breweries and great pubs for local craft beer. I just never get there enough to seek them out. I am a small town person, Toronto kind of drives me nuts, but they got a ton of great beer.

I'm from the big T stink, but lived for years in Guelph. I thought that was small town until I moved out here. Peterborough IS a big city in these parts.McGruff wrote:I am from Peterborough.
