Congrats!
I've been saving some stuff up for some competitions that are a little closer to home because, well basically I'm too cheap to send it across the country. I might send some off for that one though before all my stuff gets old.

Very good!
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the

Thanks guys. Yes Tim, send something in. Remember that the ALES comp is in April and it is the Canadian part of the NHC.

Congrats!
I'm slowly building back up my inventory after moving. I should be able to get something to the Werthogs and ALES.

how do you send bottle in without upsetting the yeast/trub?
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

For bottle conditioned beers, it don't matter... it will settle before they sample it provided you send it in reasonably early.
I use a beer gun and draw from my kegs, so there isn't any sediment to worry about.
BTW, judges don't ( or at least they aren't supposed to ) discriminate against bottle conditioned beer.

Awesome, Tony!
Guys in town, let's make a concerted effort on these upcoming comps. Bring your beers out to the next meeting if you are hesitating on entering. And then we'll put together a group box to send out.

Awesome job

congrats
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Thanks guys.
Another Idea is for a group tasting before sending them away to get some idea how well they would fare.
Then you could compare your tastings to the judges comments once you get your sheets back.

Mine got there yesterday, 2 entries. The deadline is the 19th.
My 2 entries into the ALES comp got there Monday, and my entries into Montreal arrived today.
Now, I only have to worry about the Beau's pro/am which should go this week.

Forgot about it, myself. I wonder if I get it picked up tomorrow, I can get it there by Monday - doubtful.

Cool. I see an old buddy, Greg Josiak, won first and second in the Socttish and Irish Ale category. Not sure about now, but he used to grown his own hops AND grain, malt it himself and brew. He was in the group I toured all those Northern Cali breweries with. (Anchor, Lagunitas, North Coast, Sierra Nevada, Anderson Valley, Bear Republic, and a bunch of brewpubs).

That's a tough bunch of brewers out there, so his beer must be great to do so well.
I never placed in the WertHogs comp this year in Lethbridge. I'll have to wait for the score cards to see how I did.
