Hello From Lunenburg County

Post by chris » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:42 pm

Hello everyone, I'm Chris ive been brewing for about a year. It's gone from something I wanted to try to an absolute obssesion. My wife bought me the basic gear to get started for valentines day, and has been kicking herself ever since.Looking forward to learning from fellow bluenosers, I mean brewnosers.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Me too. Chris, do you know any of those folks? I wonder if they'd give us a tour of the facility (or maybe they already do, I haven't made it down there yet).

And Welcome!

They are at the market every Saturday. BTW, a couple guys from Lunenburg are kicking the tires on a micro down there. German lagers is their goal...

I know of the distillery but I don't know much about them. This would be a very appropriate area for a micro that brewed german lagers. I found the site just by Googleing homebrew clubs in NS. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome!

The Ironwork's vodka is pretty amazing, as a side note. It actually tastes like apples instead of nail polish.
