NSLC Survey on Cider
Anyone else complete a recent NSLC survey on cider? What was with the No Boats on Sunday branding? Did you share my opinion that it was terrible? I found that it didn't communicate anything about the product at all--or even suggest cider! Thoughts?
Are they launching their own brand or something?

Both myself and Kim also got the survey - found it very odd; I didn't think they were in the business of launching their own brands/products, and why would they perform such a branding market survey on behalf of one (or more) of Nova Scotia's cider manufacturers?

I got it as well - figured the NBOS brand was something they made up, just for the survey. One of the logos reminded me of Kracken rum though.

And none of the designs were any good!

Yeah all the logos sucked and I assumed it was a made up brand for the survey. At least I hope it was...chalmers wrote:Ditto.LeafMan66_67 wrote:I got it as well - figured the NBOS brand was something they made up, just for the survey. One of the logos reminded me of Kracken rum though.

Terrible logos. Terrible branding. I felt dumb for even doing the survey but then again I feel dumb for doing a lot of things.

Huh...that's interesting. This logo is quite reminiscent of the one in this cider survey.

Apparently "No Boats on Sunday" will be pouring at the NLC Beer Expo in May. We'll need a Newfoundlander to do some recon work for us...

So I saw the No Boats on Sunday cider for sale at the NSLC and the NSLC account just retweeted someone's tweet about the cider. Have they ever retweeted something like that about a specific brand before? Seems weird to me.

Also at ANBL and PEILC, they move fast!
Credit to Toni who pointed it out to me, someone on Reddit believes it is produced by Peller Estates/Andrew Peller, of Golden Glow fame.
I did not enjoy the bottle I had (and this was prior to learning the producer).

Hmmm... Flipped on it's side. Anyway, just thought I'd post it for any one who had no idea what we were talking about.

Re: NSLC Survey on Cider
They've done surveys like this for other manufacturers before. I've seen one for Keith's products - including at least one that never made it to market - and for Captain Morgan.mikeorr wrote:Both myself and Kim also got the survey - found it very odd; I didn't think they were in the business of launching their own brands/products, and why would they perform such a branding market survey on behalf of one (or more) of Nova Scotia's cider manufacturers?

Funny how the S N B O layout around the oars reads "SNOB" to me. I wonder if that's intentional.
