Checked the pH on the Berliner Weisse this morning after 21 hours of souring and it dropped from 5.10 to 3.49.
Going to let it go a little longer before boiling.

That looks slick, are you able to share the parts you used to build it? Was thinking that it may be time to get a proper cleaning rig. The base doesn't look too different from what Keith uses for his keg cleaner, which sounds promising too.

It's the Marks Keg washer. It comes with a few different barb attachments for attaching various hoses.chalmers wrote:That looks slick, are you able to share the parts you used to build it? All I did was take a ball lock post and insert it into the end of a hose.
So, aside from the keg washer, all you need is a few feet of hose, a ball lock post and a gas in dip tube to insert into the clear tubing.

Re: Random brewing pics
Thanks! From their website, it looks like the two Canadian shops that carry them are out. And a further search shows one of the previous versions for $150. Ouch. Time to look at making my own...Jimmy wrote:It's the Marks Keg washer. Would be very easy and cheap to make. It's just a simple pond pump with a reservoir.chalmers wrote:Thanks! From their website, it looks like the two Canadian shops that carry them are out. Re: Random brewing pics
Yeast starter for the IPA. It's my house American yeast, and this is it's first trip on a stir plate. I started it last night (probably shouldn't have), and it overflowed twice. The cat woke me up at 3:00, so I swirled it around then and cleaned it up, and then again when my wife got up at 6:00 for work. It's very excited to make another beer!

It would, but I'm afraid of using it. I top crop, so I doubt I'd be able to then.

Columbus. 2oz flameout, 3oz steep at 185ºF for 30 minutes. Whirlpool by hand. Too cheap to buy a pump.

Re: Random brewing pics
I remember someone (microbiologist?) saying on reddit that top cropping yeast hold onto each other when they bud and form long lines of yeast as opposed to solitary cells. And that is what makes the strong krausen that doesn't fall. If that is the case then you shouldn't have any issues with the fermcap.amartin wrote:It would, but I'm afraid of using it. Almost ready to start my boil! Hope this advent beer turns out well for you guys. Mash temps were a couple degrees off (150 instead of 153) so it'll be a bit of a learning curve figuring out my all grain process

You'll be fine with a mash temp of 150. Most of my beers are mashed at 150 or lower.Halifax_Jeff wrote:
