Anyone have some citra hops to part with?

Post by Jimmy » Fri Oct 21, 2011 11:51 am

I think I am going to brew Tims Black IPA and was looking to get some citra hops, which noble grape isn't carrying. Anyone have 5oz they would kindly sell? If not it's no biggie... Are there any suitable substitutes?

I think we just blew that last of ur supply on Tim's BIPA :spilly: but I'll double check when I get home. FWIW I think there is no sub for the Citra in that recipe!
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I could part with 5oz. I got them last December from Mr F-bomb, so as long as you don't mind that they are a bit aged, they're yours!

PM me to set up a pickup time!

Thanks Rob, I might take you up on that. I've just got to see if I can everything else I need.

Is extra dark crystal malt a reasonable substitute for special B malt?

That's about the best option.

Still looking for some. I postponed it until this weekend since the setup wasn't ready yet. Anyone have any to spare? I shot Rob a PM too, so hopefully something comes through

You should have sent me a PM, I could have brought some up today with your diptube if you were brewing today.....
