Hello from NB
G'day,
Stumbled on this site a few months ago searching for used gear. Finding lots of other good info on here so figured I might as well join.
Been doing extract (with grains) kits for over 10 years now, brewed some ciders and sat in on a couple AG brews with some buddies in Freddy.
Planning a 3-tier system for the summer once I get all the pieces together. Currently reside between a couple spots in Penobsquis and Saint John.
Hate to be a lurker: name's Al
Cheers!

Re: Hello from NB

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Hello from NB
gm: definitely keep me posted. hopefully I can make one of the meetings:Travel a lot for work
Ibrew in the gaps when I'm home. Just recently go back into HB as I've been apartment dwelling the last year...finally talked the GF into "us" getting a second fridge, built a temp controller for the fridge using the STC-1000 with a trouble light on the heating circuit.. So have a ghetto fermentation chamber since January, 2 brews in the pipeline: an overly bitter APA of my own device and a best case brown.
Put on a festabrew (ya Im lazy and didn't wanna invest the time and extra stress) cream ale with 1056 to sit in the fermenter for the 2 weeks I'm currently away in Bermuda for work.
Good beer available here, took me a while to find them...Dockyard Brewing the only micro on the island...decent but not very innovative or hop forward: they mainly cater to the cruise ship crowd
but Miles Market in Hamilton...oye: Dogfish Head(currently into a 90 min), Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Clown Shoes, North Coast (Old Rasputin) etc... I guess I'll survive
Cheers.

Re: Hello from NB
Welcome aboard!
And thanks for the Bermuda Beer Report. There is a "Beer Abroad" sub-forum that us travellers will try and post to, to give other members a heads up on where to find good beer outside of the Atlantic provinces (or within).
Cheers!

Re: Hello from NB
Actually, the selection at the Happy Valley NLC isn't too shabby, if you're like me and find yourself making microwave ribs and drinking alone in a hotel room fairly often. Unibroue Fin du Monde & La Resolution, Les Trois Mousquetaires Reserve de Noel, Pilsner Urquell, Mad Tom IPA are all beers I'd happily drink. Check this link for the Goose Bay Beer inventory (http://goo.gl/y5J3O7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), and then expand the Origin tab on the left to check out the stuff from Quebec or Ontario.Albert wrote:thanks for the tip, chalmers: I never noticed the sub forum!

This time of year, though, I imagine it's pretty shitty up there!

Re: Hello from NB
haha yup not looking forward to it: our guys are flat out digging and pushing snow, and the cold has been relentless this year.
Not my first time in GB...I agree the selection is pretty good at the store. For some strange reason I am very fond of Dominion...I guess its a guilty pleasure
Cheers,
Al
