Propane Tank
I am looking for a new 20lb propane tank. One of mine just expired.
Anyone know of a deal in town?

I always bought mine at Costco before I went back to charcoal.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Propane Tank
Not sure if they still have them, but Costco had 30lb tanks over the summer. I love mine - fill up less often, and even though it's only 1.5 the volume of a 20lb, I find I can brew about the same amount of beer with the 30 as I can with 2, 20lb tanks.
Alternatively, what I have done in the past is just go to one of the tank exchange places as they rarely check the date. Then you get a new tank!

Re: Propane Tank
I got mine filled at rona before and there was no way that it was certified! Try there.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

When mine expire, I swap them at a gas station. Nobody ever checks the dates. For like 30 bucks, you could have a full one with years to go on it.

Re: Propane Tank
I filled mine at Rona recently and the guy was particular about the date. They also jacked the price way up so it's not longer worth going out of my way. When mine's empty again I'll send it to Costco with one of you members.LiverDance wrote:I got mine filled at rona before and there was no way that it was certified! Try there.

At Costco you pay per pound so it doesn't have to be empty!

Re: Propane Tank
If you live on the Dark Side, the CT Gas Bar at Forest Hills charges per pound, too, but the price is better at CostCo. I've come across too many places that charge you for 20lbs, no matter how much they actually put in it.Jayme wrote:At Costco you pay per pound so it doesn't have to be empty!

Re: Propane Tank
Costco $39.98 for a full 20lb. $27.99 for the tank and 11.99 for the fill.
They did not have 30lb.
