FS: Small freezer

Post by chalmers » Thu Dec 04, 2014 8:11 pm

LiverDance cleaned out his basement, and I took a freezer with the intention of turning it into a fermentation chamber. However, it is a bit too small to accommodate what I want to do, so I am passing the savings on to you!

This freezer can handle 2 or 3 kegs, plus a 5lb CO2 and half-corny on the compressor hump. Has not been modified at all, so a temp controller would be needed to maintain anything but freezer temperatures. Pics to follow.

I can bring this to the grain pick up Saturday.

Price is a few bottles of homebrew.

I'll take it. I need to arrange to get it to Westville. I've got a buddy coming through with a truck on the 19th that should be able to grab it

Think I'd get 3 pin locks in there?

It will only fit 1 ball lock (unsure about pin lock) keg and c02 tank as well as a 3 gallon keg on the side hump. I used it mostly for fermentation.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Oops, thanks for setting me straight, LD. I guess I was picturing it wrong. If you used two 3-gal kegs, I feel like you could fit them and a full size, if you lubed them up first. I just tried, it's *really* close.
Just checked, 1 pinlock fits no problem.

I think it's the same freezer as mine. With a 9" collar you can fit three ball locks or 2 pin locks with the gas outside. http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... ano#p75438" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My guy is good to pick this up. He just wants an address. I'll leave some beers with LD for you when I get my grain.

It looks like what I use for my keezer. I fit 2 ball locks and CO2 with 8 inch collar on it.

Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA

This needs a collar to fit a ball lock. I bought the same freezer off kjiji, put a collar and STC-1000 on it and it worked really well for about 2 months.
