Heat Pump Contractors

Post by mthibodeau » Wed Oct 15, 2014 6:21 pm

Has anybody had a mini split heat pump installed recently? We are looking to get one put in, and was just wondering if anybody had experience, either good or bad, so I would have a place to start.

Thanks,

Marc

Jimmy is getting one soon. I think tomorrow. I'm seriously thinking about calling.

We're having 2 units installed tomorrow through sunshine renewable enegery. They have good rating on BBB and a friend was hired as a subcontractor for them.

We have one and it's been excellent! It's an LG one. My parents got a lesser known name brand one, it's AC only, and big and clunky looking. Apparently it's not great at doing its job either. When we were looking at getting ours, most places offer free quotes. I'd call a few people in, see what they recommend, then make your choice.

We went with LG Prestige. They have one of the best SEER and HSPF ratings available.

Sounds good, Jimmy! Our model isn't available anymore, as far as I know. We put it in shortly after getting the house (2 years +) ago, so no major surprise there. The brand certainly seems trustworthy.

I had one put in ~2years ago by Twenty Degrees Limited.

They were one of the few dealers for the model I wanted (Fujitsu 10 year parts/labor warranty). Fujitsu is on the pricer end (especially compared to a lot of the cheap Chinese ones), but it was a good experience (also very happy with the unit). I know a few others that used them without issue also. It's a smaller operation.

Cost just under 4k all incl.

It''s a 12RLS2 (12/16kBTU 25SEER, 12.5HSPF). It's very quiet and I've been very impressed with the heat it provides in even extremely cold days (although I primarily use it for A/C)

The guys that came to do our install today were great. They showed up on-time, 2 guys installing the heat pumps, and an electrician doing the wiring. Took them about 3.5hrs from the minute they showed up until they were cleaned up and ready to go (2 outdoor units and 2 indoor heads). Happy with the install, but only time will tell when it comes to cost savings.
