BN PEI splinter group "The Alenders"

Post by wortly » Wed Sep 14, 2011 10:55 am

Special thanks to Chalmers who is akin to Joseph Smith in facilitating the formation of the BN splinter group “The Alenders”. He’s not the mother hen of East Coast beer scene, but "the Maritime Beer Cock".

Ironically, PEIbeerguy suggested the name of the group which happened to be the exact same name that Hogie and I were talking about a couple of days earlier - it was obviously meant to be.

Looking forward to gaining members and helping to increase the beer footprint on the Island.

Flight (beer/brewer):

APA keg / Wortly
APA bottle / Manley
Peppercorn Wit / Hogie
Big A IPA / Smuttynose
Moose Drool / Big Sky Brewing
Chouffe Houblon
Dupont Saison (2011)
Dupont Saison (2005)
Stirstick Stout / Halfpints
Corpse Kicker Barley Wine (2007) / Wortly
IPA / Hogie

Congrats on the splinter cell!!
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Did you guys want your own section under the events forum? I'm thinking that's the only place that it's necessary, everything else would be general club discussion. Input anyone?

A separate events section may be good (I subscribe to event threads by email, so keeping them separate cuts down on emails for generic stuff).

Are the meetings the same time as in Halifax? I will try to come some time if they aren't.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Sounds like you guys drank a few too many Polygamy Pale Ales (one's never enough).
