I was just looking at the Q&A.
Someone asked if it was food grade. answer was "This barrel is not classified as Food Grade."

I know of few folks back in Iceland that use similar barrels (herring barrels) as boil kettles, with elements from tea kettles, and as fermenters, so I am sure it would be fine.
