The great mailing list debate - Split from the coast topic

Post by benwedge » Wed Mar 07, 2012 12:32 am

We're trying to kill off that mailing list. This forum was made to cut down on the huge volume of emails sent around and in order to make it more searchable & visible.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

A decently large number of people. It was discussed on other threads. Considering we get about 1 email/month from the list and it doesn't go to all forum goers, I'd say it's close to dead.

That's different than trying to kill it. The intent was to get the routine stuff off it and onto the forum so that when something urgent does go through it people will notice. It looks as if we have achieved that.

It is 100% unreliable, and 200% dead. A small number of people of continue to use it, but it's a phone line to nowhere.

:horse: :guillotine:

At any rate, this thread is finished for that conversation.. It's about Christine's Coast article. Feel free to start a new thread about the glory of majordomo. Or maybe our admin can cut this out and put it in the new thread. ;)

This isn't a debate. We resolved the problem by creating this forum. If you don't like list get off it and leave it for those who do.

You don't resolve problems by creating parallel systems of communications. All it crrates is confusion. The mail list is no longer a global device, and should no longer be referred to as such, unless you would prefer to go with two brewing organizations. Or more precisely, a brewing club and a drinking club. It is dead.
