Registered vs Varified
Hey Jimmy,
I don't understand the differences between member status. Medals won is obvious, but what is the difference between a registered user and a verified user? Is it simply if the person has been met in person? I couldn't find a post explaining it/got tired of looking, so I hope its not a repeat question.

Verified are just people who have been verified for access to the Group Buy forum. It's mostly just for Rob and myself to see who has access when administrating users.

I think it was also agreed in another post that Verified requires at least 5 posts in the forums as well.

Certified or verified?KMcK wrote:How does one become a certified Brewnoser?
Being verified is just a matter of being approved after the group buy request form is filled out (plus as Jeff noted, a minimum of 5 posts on the forums).

You answered that question a few posts up so it's not likely that I meant verified. Rockbottom is having an event for certified Brewnosers on Sunday.

You are misinterpreting the title of that thread.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Seeing that I won't be attending, a spy will have to tell me what goes on a 'certified' event.

Certified is just the word the PR people made Nash use instead of "fuckin"KMcK wrote:You answered that question a few posts up so it's not likely that I meant verified. Rockbottom is having an event for certified Brewnosers on Sunday.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I am registered but have lost access to the group buy page as I don't have 5 posts. Is there a reason you need 5 posts to be varified.

I think there are numerous reasons, but what we are trying to do is increase club participation. We don't want people to just join the forums to access the group buys.Steakinabottle wrote:I am registered but have lost access to the group buy page as I don't have 5 posts. My guess is that if you're an active member (participating in meetings, events, etc), but don't choose to post on the forums, that's fine too (I'm sure access would be granted).
Besides the club participation, we have guys organizing these group buys who are taking risk of ordering stuff for people they don't even know...A little extra protection isn't a bad thing.
