I've been told the RockHead Pale Ale is a different beer than Garrison normally brews. Awaiting a spec sheet.

Prop and Garr fills are $11 these days, I believe.

Looking forward to seeing what this is, I'm a big fan of Garrison' Hop Yard Pale Ale.

Single bottles are shelved along the long interior wall. Six packs are stacked in front of the bar. Unfortunately Joe wasn't there to show me around.

They asked me for beer on the opening, but now that Jonathan isn't working for them anymore I guess I fell out of the loop! Sounds like they got all kinds of beer available. Prices seem high to me though. Hope it works out for them.

It's supposedly a blend of Hop Yard Pale and Tallship Amber, not sure the ratio though. I was talking to one of the guys from Garrison after the Barley Wine tasting and asked about it.

The taps will be rotating, so even if they didn't contact you in time for launch, I am sure they'd put you on when you are able to send in a few kegs. Hopefully you'd be seeing some of that elevated price!

Bring in some different fucking beer..something we can't already buy in bottle/can format.

And WHY would someone buy a growler of Vicars Cross at 15+tax when they can buy bottle format for the same price?

You can get 3 750ml bottles for less.

Yeah I'm over that place. Sent them an email to inquire if I bought a case of Orval if they could do it a little cheaper but got no response. Coupled with the ridiculous growler prices and (what I consider to be) uninteresting selection...

Last person who took in some Growlers from my place that I know said they looked them all over and asked where they were from! Laugh, yes I laughed.

Drives me nuts...seeing the potential for a great growler filling station, offering some hard to find brews..but instead, we see overpriced Big Spruce and Boxing Rock that are both all over the city (well, to be fair, Big Spruce isn't available in bottles in the city - but every damn bar has it on tap).

Oh, and I forgot - sometimes they have Sea Level on there as well.

i heard some rumour that bishops cellar might start doing growlers soon? it might end up just being NS stuff too, but maybe not, i hold out faith.

I appreciate being able to get Big Spruce on tap, because it isn't available in any other packages in town. Would like all of the taps to be that way.

Same issue I have with the NB growler program when they offer regular production beers available in bottles/cans on the shelves. But that might be more of a factor of having 3 taps per store. Just offer me 1 new or different craft beer of that's all you got.

I picked up a growler of Cereal Killer last night for exactly this reason. At $15 a fill I don't suspect I'll be doing it often, but last night I was mighty happy that I did.

I wish Stillwell would fill growlers.

I picked up a growler of Cereal Killer last night for exactly this reason. At $15 a fill I don't suspect I'll be doing it often, but last night I was mighty happy that I did.

Pretty sure that $15 is the going rate of a growler fill of Cereal Killer straight from the brewery, so its nice to have the option to get it for home consumption in HRM.

I did not know that. Makes me feel quite a bit better. Still don't know how often I'll do it, but nice to know that price isn't a profiteering move by the vendor.

Which is fine because we can't get it otherwise. Having Vicars and Crafty Jack on when you can get it in bottles just isn't right...especially when you consider the price of bottle vs growler for vicars!

Cristall Wines in the Sunnyside mall is replacing the office in back with a growler station shortly. Hopefully we'll see some different beers.

In the case of Boxing Rock beers one possible advantage of the growlers over the bottles is that the kegs that the growlers are filled from are potentially fresher beer and have not been subject to the questionable storage and transfer practices of the NSLC. I have had some nearly undrinkable bottles from the NSLC that weren't even necessarily that old. I've also had some rather undercarbed BR (especially the Temptation Red) in bottles bought from the NSLC lately although that's obviously more likely a problem at the supply end.

That said though, my parents pick me up 1L growlers of Boxing Rock most Saturday mornings at the Seaport Market. I believe they charge $5/L for the standards, and a buck more for seasonals and the Vicar's Cross (although that might have gone up a dollar i can't remember). I'm sure Rockhead would argue that's only Saturday mornings, but it's definitely fresher and more money is theoretically going to the brewery (depends on how exorbitant the market stall fees are I guess).
