Blendfest

Post by Juniper Hill » Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:17 pm

2011 Cali reds are about to be moved out of barrel and be blended up for bottling.

Final blends after some trials. The Cab really dominated the others in the blends, so not using much.
1. SuperTuscan: Sangiovesse 75% Merlot 20% Cabernet Sauvignon 3-5%
2. Meritage: Merlot 85% Cabernet Sauvigon 15%
3. Mystery Blend: Whatever's left over. It'll be mostly Cabernet.

Cheers,

Neil

Blended up the wines and then bottled a few weeks later. 25 cases... The supertuscan is probably going to be my best wine to date. Will enter it in the AWNS competition if it develops over the next few months.

Wow, that's a lot of wine...
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

One of my winemaking buddies took 6 cases..he'd bought a portion of the grapes and help with alot of the grunt work. Still a lot of wine. I usually give a fair bit away.
