That's what I thought they were, until I got to the Superstore looking for crushed dried chilies...and none to be found

No smoke ring. I did this one in the oven to see how it compared to true donair meat; it passed the test. Next one will be on the grill!HPhunter wrote:I ain't seeing a smoke-ring biatch!

It was pretty delicious! Never thought I'd have a homemade donair that tasted as good, if not better than the real thing

That looks amazing. I think I would opt for the oven over the bbq for this one too.

I've been busy as fawk lately but have really wanted to make this myself ever since Nash started this thread. It's on my "to make" list this week!

Re: Spicy Donairs [Smoke Optional]
All looking sweet. I subbed the black pepper for Szechuan peppercorns for fun, and the lamb for pork. I think I might try to cut the sugar down in the sauce too, maybe by 1/3.

All of those look amazing! They really seem to put the "porn" in "foodporn" for some reason.

Re: Spicy Donairs [Smoke Optional]
Ground meat certainly picks up the smoke and forms a nice ring. I used hickory for ours.
