Job Description
Brewing:
•Responsible for working with National Commercial Brew Pub leader and Marketing team to develop and implement brewing innovation pipeline plans
•Planning, managing, and showcasing brewing activities; including innovating and bringing new beers to market
•Ensure compliance with the organizations management control and reporting system and effective execution of brewing processes
•Manage brewing schedule and raw materials inventory to meet production and scheduling demands
•Accountable for delivery of key performance indicators ( service, quality, health / safety / environment, etc.) for the brewing operations
•Responsible for cost performance (both variable and fixed) of the brewing department.
•Ensure effective troubleshooting and problem solving of process issues
Managing:
•Establish strong working relationships with internal peers and external contacts.
External Relations:
•Share passion for brewing, and beer appreciation with a wide range of external stakeholders
•Develop and lead beer education experiences for external stakeholders; customers, consumers, media, sales team.
•Develop relationship within the beer industry and key influencers in the market with a goal of fostering an environment of enjoyment of beer
•Speak knowledgably about the brewing process; both beers brewed nationally by the Mill St. Brewery, and beers brewed specifically at St. John’s location.
•Commitment to sharing his or her time in the market and sharing passion and vision to external stakeholders
Job Qualifications
•Must Love Beer: We need someone who brings passion and creativity to beer and can share that with a broad range of people (internal teams, customers, consumers, media)
•3-5 years brewing experience. Must be very familiar with the brewing process and operation of brewing equipment. Working knowledge of recipe creation is an asset.
•Brewing Diploma (Institute & Guild of Brewing Associate or equivalent courses), an asset
•Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required
•High attention to detail with a mechanical aptitude
•Financial and analytical skills required
•Able to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or emotive issues.
•Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
