I'm getting tired of paying the high prices with my eastlink bundle. Hardly watch any TV anyways, mostly netflix via appleTV or IPAD to TV cable.

Any experience with these digital antennae? Any suggestions for streaming besides netflix? What about the smaller ISPs like Techsavy?

I have a digital antenna, it works great. I build a "Dual-Bay Grey-Hoverman" antenna and I get all three channels in HD. Lots of info online. Best forum is http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Best streaming that's not Netflix IMO is Kodi.

No experience with smaller ISPs. I have Bell but we only pay for internet, no tv or landline.

I just signed with the company that was formally navnet with a 20 Mbps service for ~50$ a month. There is a thread on here somewhere about them, so far so good

They're now owned by City Wide Communications. I've had the service for 7 months with no complaints. Heard about it on here from NASH.

Obstetrics now Neil? branching out a bit?

Kodi is the best. Learning curve is minimal. Setup takes about 10 minutes. No additional equipment, aside from a computer/monitor is needed.

What channels do you get OTA?

CBC, CTV & Global.

I bought the $12 rabbit ears from The Source. The guy said 9 out of 10 get returned but I thought I'd try anyway. To my pleasant surprise they worked and I got CBC HD and CTV HD without any real effort. I live in Fall River which apparently is close to a tower.

I bought a 20$ set of rabbit ears from walmart and I could just barely get CTV and CBC or global didn't come in. I'm on the second floor of an apartment building and no matter where I put it I couldn't get the channels with enough signal strength to be reliable. I brought mine back, but I might try a different brand. From what I was reading people can have varying success with different brands depending on how far you are from the towers and stuff like that.

I tried the digital antenna but it just didn't work where we were located. Might work for you. That being said, it's not really like I need to watch CBC, Global, or CTV anyways... Really, there's enough content on Netflix to fill the few hours of watching time I have per week. I'm not a big sports guy, so the few times I really want to see a game I can go to a friend's or a sports bar.

For ISPs I would very much suggest City Wide Communications if they are available in your area. They run on Eastlink's lines. You get Eastlink level speeds, but at a fraction of a price and without all the marketing and (lack of) customer service bullshit that comes from mainstream telcos.

Interested to hear your review. This was the first I've heard of them.

I've been using their 20 MBPS service since about last November. I gave up my 40 MBPS connection from Eastlink. I can't tell any difference in the connection. I haven't had to deal with problems yet so I can't comment on their customer service.

We're loving Citywide here. They work on a referral discount system so drop my name if you set it up.
