Brewnosers Cars

Post by GuingesRock » Wed May 07, 2014 8:11 pm

I’d have loved to have taken a spin down to the RB tonight in my 2005 Black Audi A6. Such a lovely evening. I love driving that thing, it's such a joy, man and machine at its best, but it is in for repairs :( I drove out of the drive way last week and it automatically shut me down to 2 clicks. The warning light said EPC failure. I’m assuming that’s electronic power control. I got the CAA to take to the dealership. It’s going to be $2,500 for repairs including fixing a rear brake that has apparently been seized on for a while. I’ll pay the money because I love the car. I bought it second hand 2 years ago, with 50,000km. It had one previous owner, the CEO of Sobeys. I found that out from the service receipts in the glove box. That guy never drove it as he had a driver and also a corporate jet. It has all the bells and whistles.

I’m worried for my car. I love it and hope it will be OK. It’s getting old :(

Any car stories? Depressing or otherwise. What are you driving these days?

ps. I don't think the newer Audis are made so well.

My wife and I literally just came back from buying a new Hyundai Elantra. I've had one for 3 years now (since the new style came out) and absolutely love it so getting her to buy in was a no brainer.

I'm a car/truck guy and have had a few over the years.

One of my first cars was a 1990 All Wheel STEERING Honda Prelude... Yes, all 4 wheels turned and that thing handled like a dream. It also made parking it a breeze!

My more recent vehicles have been 2 Dodge Rams and a Jeep. Recently I decided it was a good idea to get a practical vehicle and sold my Ram..I loved my truck.

My first truck

My Jeep..it was a fun ride, especially with the top and doors off! Becky wasn't as much of a fan of the topless drives!

My most recent truck. I do miss it, but don't miss the gas bill!

I don't have a picture of my Dart, but it was built just for me!

Found dealership pics of my Audi just before I got it. I knocked the price down a bit. I bought a chauffeurs hat from the UK and had an outfit and drove my sister-in-law to her wedding.

I drive a 2009 Subaru Forester XT. A photo from the day we picked it up at the dealership (bought used, 50K km).
foz.jpg
Love this car. The first one I've owned with a turbo charger and it's fun as hell to drive. Would have liked to have gone with a WRX, but the wife wanted something with a bit more space to make it easier lugging the kids around.

Mark, I feel your pain on the repairs. We just got the Foz back from $1200 worth of repairs a little over a week ago. Got a tank full of gas one morning and on the way home, the engine started misfiring like crazy and died on me. Ended up getting about a half a tank full of water because the station had a break in the underground pipes of their tanks. You'd never expect getting fuel like that purchasing regular, let alone the 91 octane this car requires...

Now that the car is fixed, I'm fighting with the owner of the station over all of my bills. Thankfully the parent oil company appears to be on my side and is helping me out.

Crazy about the gas thing!

I love my truck but it's seen better days. I had to put $1800 into it this winter and it's going to need another $2k before the summer is over. It should be good for a while after that though. I don't know why I insist on keeping it...

I've got a 2012 yaris hatchback, bought it new 22 months ago, have 70k km on it. I drive too much. But it is awesome on gas, standard so it has pretty good acceleration, hatchback so I can fit it full of lots of stuff, and Toyota built in Japan so all I have to do is change oil.

2012 Dodge Grand Caravan.... It is a gas pig and seems like I have to replace the brakes annually. I can't wait to unload it in a few years.

I started out driving this little beauty https://www.google.ca/search?q=1968+pon ... 80&bih=923" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and followed that with this https://www.google.ca/search?q=1972+dod ... 80&bih=923" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

after marriage I went with family cars and with a mid life crisis bought a Harley.
These days I drive a Buick Lucerne that I bought used from a relative for a really cheap price. Only issue with it so far was a door that had a stuck solenoid that prevented the door from opening. Got that fixed by my buddy for $20.

Keith, Sandy pulled up outside my house in a Dodge Caravan a few months ago to pick up his BBQ. He said it belonged to a friend of his ;)

Looks like you could get a lot of bags of grain/kegs/beer supplies in one of those. Does it have a name?

I'm a professional bucket driver, I normally buy cars for 500-2000$ and drive them to the ground. If they last a year, I am happy.

Here is my current car, 2001 Chevy Blazer that I bought for $1000 last summer from an old farmer. Only 140k km on it, and no rust since it was mostly used in Florida.
Image

Before the Blazer I had bought another Mazda Protege, a Protege 5 that time. Was mechanically sound, but had major rust problems like most mazdas have. Sold it when it needed a new gas tank and break work.
Image

Before the black crappy Mazda, I had 2003 Mazda Protege that I bought for $2200 in 2009. Great little car, until my wife crashed it. Was going strong at 315k kms.
Image

Before that I had a 1996 Toyota Touring station wagon, awesome car, 4wd, lot of space in the back for camping and stuff.
Image

And my first car, probably the worst car ever made, 1986 Ford Escort. Bought it from my aunt for $500 back in 2001. It was the base model, so it had absolutely no comfort at all. Radio? nopes. Passanger side visor? nopes. Power steering? nopes. 5 speed manual? nope, only 4 speed. Top speed of 120km/h? In your dreams, hard to get it pass 90 downhill!

That blazer looks great. Is it 4 x 4? Looks like it could smash through big snow drifts. I had a new GMC Jimmy in Manitoba back then (around 2001) and nothing was stopping me. I really liked it. It was teal green
