That was my "Starter Kit". The burner works for 20-30l batches (larger pot may be needed) or split boil for 40l. You will not be happy with the time it takes to get larger volumes to a boil.

May be a good setup for a BIAB if Jimmy will make one that size.

oh ok... I should have said I will be using a keggle (once I get around to putting it together) and BIAB

I am looking for something that will stick around for a while and also accommodate larger batches

If you've no need for the pot, I'd recommend grabbing something like this from Kent. Nearly 20,000 BTU more and the base fits a keggle perfectly. Though, where you're in NG, might not be worth the gas money to Truro and back…

I use this burner with a 48qt pot and I know akr71 uses one with his keggle. But, if you have the option to get something 100,000 BTU+ as Sandy mentioned, definitely go for it. You'll be much, much happier.

Where are you getting the 100+ btu buner?

I think it was kent or Home Depot.

That was actually my first choice, but SWMBO wants a big pot for lobster and corn (actually, so do I), and the keggle won't suffice... or would it?

I use 220+ btu... good for when in a hurry to boil

This is the base I currently use for my keggle it does the trick. If you search burner on the forums, Jimmy posted a good link about buying burners online.

This is actually the exact setup I use for BIAB, pot included. Works great for my 19-23L batches. My one issue is that it runs with a 12 minute max timer, but I usually just wedge a log against the knob to hold it in place and keep it running for those 60 minute boils. It could probably be disconnected/disabled without much work.

I have the same burner with a smaller pot ... find it works great for my 20L partial mash boils - will have to see how it works for a full boil next month when I change over to a 58L keg.
