Agreed,mr x wrote:Arguing health care costs is a slippery slope, actually it's not a slope, it's a cliff. For instance, I could very easily get enraged at the medical bills we pay for people who live grossly unhealthy lifestyles related to food and drink, unsafe sex, etc, etc....
Have you had a lot of dealings with DoctorsNS that you can make such a statement X. I’m not saying you are right or wrong. In my experience everything in that world is heavily “evidence based” so any argument will need to be based on the latest information and studies rather than emotional reaction. Emotional reaction and public opinion is the stuff of small town committees and politics, and those are the people that make me crazy. It sounds like Ben knows the way to approach this and is confident he can speak the correct language…that of evidence based argument.mr x wrote:Too far up their own ass to listen to anyone who isn't a doctor.benwedge wrote: DoctorsNS...
What's wrong with taking a position if it is based on evidence. Ben is taking a position, based on evidence, and so he should. New evidence is coming out all the time, and everything is in a state of flux. As long as people don't hold rigid positions that are not based on evidence, I think it is all good.mr x wrote:They are quite clearly taking positions, as opposed to presenting data. Listen to the interviews and articles. They are a lobbying organization, and not to be trusted.
From their own website....lobbying and legislation is a top strategic priority for Doctors Nova Scotia.
Amen!
