It's good weather to be a snowblower! Just did 5 lane ways, one neighbour gives me a dirty look every time I don't do theirs, like It should've expected that because I do 4 other lane ways that yours should be done too. Don't see you dropping me off festa brews or bottles and then asking favours.

We'll get back to it this winter I think. The lessons are "free" (honour system) and he's quite a good teacher. It will likely be a bit repetitive if you already know a bit. Never hurts to be refreshed on basics, though, to my mind.

I have been using that site as part of my learning also. He really knows how to explain it to someone like me who only got half a clue :D I'm a couple of months into it now.

As for shine, I don't make it myself. I sometimes get a flask given me from the boys in P.E.I. who make some wicked grog. It is so smooth you would hardly know it was shine.

Looks desolate. Scott's expedition to Antarctica might have been a bit like that. Glad you got your power back. Is the shine all gone? wouldn't blame you if there's none left.

Neat photo, Tony. Takes a heck of a lot of shine to stay warm for so long in such cold temps. Glad you've got power again!

Just noticed you are from Mount Pearl. It's always been a dream of mine to go to Cape Spear on NYE to watch the sun come up on New Years Day. Kind of cool to be one of the first in Canada to welcome a new year. :)

Shine has been gone for a while now, but I'm happy to report lots of APA grace my basement shelves. Yeah, it is desolate looking now, but in the summer when all the cuties are on that tennis court I have no trouble breaking a smile.

Cape Spear or Signal Hill for Canada Day is OK but NYD is a bit cold for my old bones to be out there.

The alcohol thing is a myth, it actually makes you colder by thinning the blood and allowing it to be cooled more quickly, you just feel warmer. I've been I having the same argument with my father in law for 9 years ( he's South Americans and thinks that a scotch or 6 will keep him warm...)

Or...Alcohol causes peripheral vasodilation. It dilates the blood vessels in the skin. More blood flow goes to the skin, and so you feel warmer, then you lose your body heat more quickly and become hypothermic.

Same difference really :)

We might be able to see the Northern Lights tonight!

Cool.

Heading out to Blackrock / Harbourville later this eve to see if we can't catch a glimpse.

Did you see any? I saw a lot of them when I lived in Manitoba.

Mark,

No, sadly, it was cloudy to the North when we went to look. I've never seen the Northern Lights before, and would have liked to have seen them. Are they as spectacular as they say?

It was still a nice trip to the shore, though. Very windy and it was fun to watch the big waves crash on the rocks in the near-darkness. :)

How's the weather your way these days, Tony? I've got a call to do there Monday & Tuesday, and am wondering what the chances are that I'll make it in (and more importantly OUT) of town safely.

Kirsten, Intriguing for sure, but as an Englishman suddenly plonked down in the middle of the Prairies, no more intriguing then the sky being filled with geese, prairie sunsets, Sun dogs and the treacherous temperatures etc.

I think it is looking good so far.
You bringing down my Brewnoser glass with you this trip? I'll be free Monday night ( for once ) and Yvonne and myself could meet up with you. I have a pack of minced Moose here with your name on it, but that will be here until next summer some time unless we don't meet up between now and then
I can see what Pete, Frank, Dwayne are doing that night also given enough time. :spilly:
