You'd think so, but my kids seem to have actual contempt for it. I think they are burned out on the concept of life on the internet. I wouldn't bet on them returning, and that gets compounded by future would be users moving to the other newer platforms instead of getting hooked on Facebook.

It's not just a matter of leaving, it's essentially leaving on bad terms.

Another article that mentions instagram. :)

These studies can say what they want but without hard data to back it up, which of course FB would never release, it doesn't have a lot of foundation. Are all the kids saying that they hate FB and that they're leaving actually doing so?

But instagram isn't Facebook in concept, nor is Snapchat. I'm fact, Snapchat is in some regards the opposite of Facebook.

Do they actually leave forever, time will tell...but I am betting many of these accounts become like 99‰ of blogs, so neglected over time they are essentially dead.

My point about instagram is that Facebook still eons the data. People that are "leaving" Facebook for instagram aren't leaving the Facebook ecosystem.

Again, time will tell. When I see FB making drastic user retention moves, then I'll believe they're in danger.

im gonna side with x here. i know lots of young people who are no longer on facebook, myself included (i dont qualify as young tho, really). lots of other media. twitter, instagram (not for me as it's a facebook product, but most people use it and seem to not know that), snapchat, WhatsApp, etc. i think ghost accounts is a good description - they may still have an account there, but without them uploading pics, tagging each other, and commenting and liking everything in sight, the data value to Facebook is gone as well.

But this is all based around kids. I think once they get past the whole "mom and dad are spying on me" age, they too, will end up on facebook.

i think the age/platform relationship is more important than that though.. if they don't get on facebook in junior high/high school, and use other platforms for everything, there is less motivation for them to get on it later.. i honestly do think it is starting to gradually decline

FB is not going anywhere anytime soon! Even if the younger crowd decides to abandoned it, which I doubt that will happen, look at the businesses that are on FB. Every single business has, and needs, to have a presence on FB. You can't beat free marketing and the unlimited audience that you're tapping into. And FWIW, of all my young nieces, nephews, etc, FB is still their go to social media source. I honestly can't see that changing anytime soon.

But what else is there that can fulfill the function that facebook serves for the older crowd? Once people get older, get jobs, have families, etc. they lose contact with friends. Facebook fills that void. Kids don't need facebook for that because they're out with their friends every day.

Lolololol, you need kids. They are on social media for hours per day. It's just that Facebook is declining as the platform of choice for my teens. Don't assume they will want to come back at all to anything as they get older.

Well this baby here in it's day was a Louis Vitton or whatever the heck it's called of chairs, it's served us well out by the fire out since June. Unfortunately we've decided to part ways, time for new camp fire furniture bud! So we're clearing house.
Allow me to explain it's many features of high class:
1) faux leather
3) 3-point contact lumbar support (an old 2x4)
4) so comfortable you could fall asleep in it with half a beer in your hand
5) it's autographed by Stephen Harper, the one and only supreme lord of Canada.
6) it's original home is Prospect (333 bud)

So now that I have you intrigued by it's high quality status allow me tell you how you may own stuck a distinguished piece of luxury. It's free! Perfect for the camps, yes it has some minor fire damage as seen in the pictures as well as at least 100-1000 22 bullets into it (target practice).

Anyways the chair is pretty much mint but it's not, works good, runs like a top, you'll be the envy of your friends I'm telling ya.

Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead in Manhattan apartment after apparent drug overdose

http://arts.nationalpost.com/2014/02/02 ... e-reports/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in Manhattan after an apparent drug overdose, the New York Police Department has revealed to U.S. media.

Screenwriter David Katz found the 46-year-old at 11.30 a.m. Sunday morning in the bathroom of his 4th floor Greenwich Village apartment with a needle in his arm, sources told The Wall Street Journal. Police also found an envelope containing what they believe was heroin, an official told the The New York Times.

The Journal said that the New York Police Department is investigating, but the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is yet to determine the exact cause of death.
That Superbowl Party went too far. :(

Red Hot Chili Peppers: NFL made us mime Super Bowl song

http://thechronicleherald.ca/artslife/1 ... -bowl-song" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Red Hot Chili Peppers decided long ago they were never going to mime a live performance. The band made an exception for the National Football League, it turns out.

The group’s bassist, Flea, said in a letter to fans posted on the group’s website Tuesday that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members pretended to play along to a pre-taped track of “Give It Away” during the American football championship Super Bowl halftime show as Anthony Kiedis sang live. The request came from NFL officials who felt it was too difficult to pull off a completely live performance because of potential sound issues.

The admission came after observers noted Flea and his bandmates weren’t plugged in while performing Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Flea wrote on the band’s website that the opportunity was too big for the lifelong football fans to turn down. After internal debate, dubiously checking with fellow musicians and consulting with headliner Bruno Mars, they decided it was “a surreal-like, once in a life time crazy thing to do and we would just have fun and do it.”

The 51-year-old said the group pre-recorded a unique instrumental track for the show. He didn’t directly address whether Mars also recorded instrumental tracks for his appearance, though he said Mars was aware they did. A publicist for Mars did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.

A record 115 million people tuned into watch Mars and the Peppers, besting audiences of 114 million for Madonna and 110 million for Beyonce.

I swear the Bruno Mars band was prerecorded as well, the drum solo at the beginning looked way off.

I can't shit on Flea or the Peppers for this, they did not ever plug in their instruments so they were not even trying to hid it.......and they were probably paid a wheel barrow full of money for less than 5 minutes of "work".

Colorado Projects $100 Million in Marijuana Tax Revenue

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... ful%20-Eye" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Colorado is expected to bring in $100 million in new tax revenue generated by the newly legal marijuana industry. This represents almost three times as much tax revenue as through alcohol, which fetched about $39 million for the Centennial State.

Coloradans legalized pot in Nov. 2012 and initiated the tax and regulation of state-legal cannabis sales starting Jan. 1, 2014. Up to 156 marijuana retail stores are expected to open in Colorado, giving added context to the late John Denver’s anthem to the colorful state, “Rocky Mountain High.”

A survey was conducted by NBC News based on the first 27 days of tax data of 18 licensed pot retailers. The findings estimated that pot businesses coughed up anywhere from $1.24 million to $3 million in tax in the first 30 days of operation. Although the marijuana taxes are borderline confiscatory – coming in at a whopping 29% – demand is still high for the popular plant.

Just under 2,000 miles away in Rhode Island, State Sen. Joshua Miller is keeping a watchful eye on Colorado. He has proposed legislation to change marijuana laws in his state in a way similar to what Colorado voters did. Presently, Rhode Island has a $100 million state budget deficit: “The kind of money that could be generated through this is an amount that could take care of more than 20 percent of the deficit that we’re running every year,” he said. “So it’s a very important revenue source potentially.”
How much longer can the idiots running our country hold on to decades of lies....
