Re: Clothes washer
I just got a new LG high efficiency front load pair from future shop, can't remember the exact model number but it's some letters and then 3250
Anyway we really like it so far, it's about a 4.5 or 4.6 cubic foot model, and it holds a ton, way more than my old top load ever did. No complaints so far.
The only thing I would caution you about is that the spin cycle can be noisy if it's not in the basement as they spin at like 1100 rpm

Kegged:
Bottled: Chocolate Orange Stout, Barkshack Sparkling Ginger Mead, Cherry Berliner
Fermenting: Fruit (havent decided yet) Lambic
Considering: Imperial Chocolate Raspberry Stout, Fir Tip Ale

Re: Clothes washer
We have a whirlpool front load from a few years ago. Wouldn't recommend it though, the vibration from the spinning tub has worn out the wire connections on the control board and it needed to be fixed a couple of times. Also because they are water tight you have to leave the door open when not in use and clean them regularly to avoid stagnant water/mold issues.

Re: Clothes washer
Just got a LG front load pair from Home Depot, stackable. The 3650 series and we like them.
The LG control panel is easier to see than the Samsung on the dryer when stacked.
We have noticed quicker wash and dry times and they a use way less water.
The door stays ajar slightly with a magnet to help with stink / mildew. Other brands may do the same.
Haven't noticed crazy noise from spin so far.
Overall happy with them. Time will tell if worth the cash...

Re: Clothes washer
Have had the LG TROMM Front load pair for 10 years or more. They are great! Haven't had any problems with them.
We got the top of the line steam option on the washer. Don't really use that function and won't look for it on our next washer.

We've got middle of the road Samsung front load. No steam option, but has most others. Similar front load issues as have been mentioned above: need to leave door ajar when not in use and ridiculously high speed spin cycle. Sounds like an airplane taking off. Works great though and will do huge loads.

Re: Clothes washer
Last year I bought a high efficiency top loader. It was the largest available at Sears at the time and we had a new baby so that is what made our decision. It is a Samsung Aquajet VRT. Works as advertised. You can tell the difference between the various settings and between the "aquajet". It's not as efficient as a front loader, but if you have particularly heavily soiled clothes/blankets/towels that need extra cleaning, it can get it done better than many front loaders that I have used. With the exception of my mother's top of the line LG steam washer with gets smells out of athletic gear really well. The only thing I would say against my samsung is that the price was a little more than I would have liked, but we bought it as sears during sears days so it was 40% off which made the price just about right.
My other recent personal experiences with washers were a whirlpool spacemaker all in one stackable top loader that wasn't efficient (middle of its energuide scale), but it was very effective at cleaning. They are cheap at homedepot and every major brand has a version for sale there. And the other experience was a very small front loader at my wife's old house that was super efficient but it never cleaned anything properly and was a huge pain to clean its seal to keep mold out. It was my wife's and I don't remember the brand, but the size was 4.2 cubic feet or maybe 4.0 cubic feet and it wasn't large enough for two people unless you wanted to do laundry all the time. It also made doing bulky bed covers impossible, they wouldn't turn over properly. I'm sure the technology has changed in the five years since she bought that front loader so maybe some of the issues have been resolved, but the size issue with bedding is probably fairly common with washers that small.
