Hi there. No we are called Windy Knoll Stables and Cooper Family Farm. We are located in Hants Co as well but are a new hop yard, looking to focus on supporting the smaller local market. I personally work as a crop specialist with an Atlantic farm company and hold a P.Ag designation. Farming is not a new endeavour for us, but hops are. Always welcome feedback as to desired varieties, product format preferences, etc.

This is pretty fantastic to have available to homebrewers. How big is your hop yard? Have any estimates about how much hops you'll be harvesting this year?

You don’t live far from me (Wolfville). I’m interested in Cascade and I get through a pound every week or two. How will you be packaging and selling them please? Do you have any idea of pricing yet?

I also responded to the Kijiji ad but haven't heard back - I'm also interested in pricing. If the prices are reasonable, I'll certainly buy some. However, my experience has been most local growers have the insane impression that fresh or wet hops are worth the same price as dried hops... When you need 4-6 times more for a batch, at price points like that become ridiculous. Anyway, hopefully you folks are more reasonable!

Hi All. Been a busy work/farm week so apologies for not getting back to people till now. I will wait until closer to harvest to figure out a price. And hopefully we will find the right balance for cost of production, market demand, and end user accessibility. Will keep you all posted. And yes, we can do a farm visit in a little while for those interested. Just busy trying to finish haying thanks to our damp summer, split firewood and process poultry as well.

I never bought fresh wet hops before, or grown them, although that's on the agenda and my parents grew them and dried them for their beer.

I'm assuming they can be frozen without drying first. Is that right? and do frozen wet hops have any flavour advantages or disadvantages over frozen dry hops?

Yes you can freeze them, though most sources recommend against that practice. I have done it and can't say I noticed that big a difference over using them fresh. That is of course assuming you vacuum seal them. Home grown hops fresh or dried typically don't taste as good as commercial hops, nor do you know the AA% which can be tricky for balancing.
