Interesting.... what's the normal going price on a big keg like that?

I paid $30 or so 3 years ago.

I may keep an eye on this & if I have a few extra $, a second might be nice to have.

Are these convenient to use for homebrew? Probably depends on your typical batch size, but are they a pain to set up?

I don't know anything about kegging.

I use a 50l keg as my brew kettle - cut the top open and drill a hole near the bottom to drain.

If your brewing capacity would fill the thing, it would be great for homebrew. Assuming you also have the proper (sanke) connections to pull the beer back out again. There's a thread over in the DIY section where some are working on converting these types of kegs into fermenters.

Though I currently don't have the capacity for 5gal + batches, it's always good to be prepared. Can't say I'll be hitting SJ anytime soon, but if that's a good price I'll explore it a bit further.

If somebody in Hfx is interested, I could pick those up and store until you are in the area.

I am a bit tempted to pick one up to turn into a HLT.

Anyone get a response regarding how many they have?

Edit: He just wrote. He has three left as of 12:30 pm, Weds.

The ad says ball lock, but they're probably Sanke. Do you know if they have the rubber chime on them? If so, they are a pain to remove if you intend to propane fire them.
If the picture in the ad is of the actual kegs, then you'll be fine (Sanke, no chime).
I've bought a bunch for $20-$30 over the past few years.

I have contacted him today and am looking for one. I have not heard back yet but if someone is looking at getting the others maybe we can arrange some transport for these to get to the HRM. I have a way for 1 to get here by the end of the month but only enough room for one. I will be traveling to SJ in about a month if there are more needed to come this way.
