We really just want to see you write a paragraph on the value of having GFCI protection on your brew rig! Lol hahaha

Sent from the brew timer.

I'm missing something... Why do you think GFCI outlets are bullshit? I suppose if your wiring is done correctly and you've chosen the correct fuse or breaker for your application, a GFCI serves little purpose. I'm a proponent of redundancy however, and I have seen breakers fail short several times at work, and were it not for the fact that we have 2 stage breakers throughout the plant, someone could have been hurt.

Slow down there cowboy! Let's not open that debate again!

Check out this thread: http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... f=6&t=3094" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and this one: http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... =41&t=3316" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

for the answer to that question!

Haha thanks Dave. While it did not actually answer my question, I get that we don't need another debate. Grounding is a hell of a thing. I actually just spend a significant portion of my day today fixing a ground loop. Mind you the equipment I'm working on is a fair bit more complicated than an electric brew kettle. On a side note, a former co-worker (electrical engineer, should have known better) built an electric brew kettle a few years back and couldn't understand why it hurt to touch the water when the kettle was plugged in... He didn't ground it and the water was sitting at 60Vac :lol: GFCI would have been of no use in that case!

Yup! But these days I laugh at 60V. That's just a tingle.
