This is a 58 L labatts keg.
The top is already cut off and two threaded nipples are cut for attaching a thermometer and ball valve

After adding those items would it be ready as a brew kettle? Is it hard to install those? I would probably be doing small batches to start out with but it would be nice to be able to do double once and a while.

I'm definitely interested unless there is something I'm missing being a newbie...i.e are there drawbacks having a big kettle?

Sounds like a sweet deal to me. All you need is a valve and thermo or plug.
