No there was another group (there may be a thread here) about a year ago. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Mr. Beer, but I could be wrong....

I remember now. They had the 2 litre bottles with the carb tabs and pressure relief caps.

Well, now that I've read the ad, it is an interesting idea. Brewing without the hassle and bother of Brewing Licenses.

Not necessarily. I would suspect they have permits if they are blatently advertising like that.

I made what I called a Belgain Imperial Stout once. Basically it was just a standard RIS fermented on a belgian yeast - Wyeast 1214 to be exact.

Maybe they could get a triangle hat and a bell, and parade the streets hawking their wort out of an old wooden wagon...

I doubt it. There's no legal requirement as long as it's sterile wort (they'd better be darn sure of that though - if the liquor inspectors find a wild yeast growing in there...)

After the last event with the law, everyone was required to get permits, Sobeys, H&T, etc.

I wasn't required to get a permit, but I would if I were to sell it on a regular basis

Also, I've had several tasty Belgian Stouts as well

I've got two kegs of Imperial Belgian Porter that might be a nice recipe with that yeast.

That's just CYA - there's still no legal way to require it.

This was covered in the Ross Harrington case. The act is defines liquor so broadly that it includes unfermented wine and beer, it was the only count they did convict him on.

Edit: I just realized thats probably the other legal event Mr. X was talking about. The whole thing seems like a giant mess...
