Setting up a single kettle electric brewery. Need a kettle at least 16.5" wide, pref 20G.
Want a Plate chiller, pref 40 plates.
Also looking for a box to house the controller, something like a burglar alarm enclosure.
SS I/2" valves, Thermometer 2" probe, Quick connect fittings. 5500w Element and cover.
The price for all new is racking up so anything considered. I am trying to make a high quality set up so wont be buying rough stuff.
If only OBK's 25% sale was happening this week!

It’s a pity a system almost exactly like this didn’t fall into your lap at a huge discount last year. That would have been really convenient.

I still have a keggel with a 1/2" valve. You could use it to start and upgrade when a sale happens.

I'm really considering selling my "20G" kettle... it's actually 18.5 - 19. Bottom drain, holes punched for electric element, temp probe, return / whirlpool port, and reflectix wrap. I also have a matching BIAB and the element used in it for over 4 years.

How large batches do you want to do?

Thanks Sandy but I can still brew and can take my time building the new system so I will wait for the right kettle.
I just bought Jimmys Mash Collander and the kettle has to be large enough to accommodate that.

As large as i can do in my 14G conical so probably 12G max.
Sounds interesting. Is the temp probe in the normal place or down lower for a temp sensor?
Size has to be such that the mash collander I just bought from Jimmy fits inside, preferably with space above the element. Width is important so that it goes in and height such that it doesn't hit the element.
What is the height from element to top rim? Got any photos? What is the brand? And of course, what would you be looking for price wise?

I've got a mint 19 gallon kettle that I've never used. It is a standard economy one with two welded bulkheads like Dave sells (I'd have to double check the dimensions to see whether it is an Everwood or OBK model, but they're almost exactly the same). It has a brand new stainless element and enclosure installed on it. Both are very robust. I was going to switch to a 19 gallon system, but decided it's too big. Will let it go for what I got it for. Pretty sure I paid $100 for the kettle on the forum. The element and enclosure were $60 (https://www.amazon.ca/Dernord-Ripple-He ... B01N4ARTE1). So, $160.

Problem is it's in Cape Breton and I don't know when I will get down. If you can figure out a way around that and want it, it's yours.

I think mine's the same as Jason's but weldless. It's 17.5 inches in diameter and height (inner). The temp probe hole is about 4" from the bottom, centred. The element hole is as low as possible for a lock nut. Looking for pics...

Thanks guys for the info, and Rob for the pics. I got the mash colander home and was able to do some more measurements. In order for this to work properly with the colander supported on the rim of the kettle the element is going to need to be at least 19" or so down from the rim which means I am going to need one of the 21.25" tall kettles like the SS brewtech or OBK 20G models. The alternative is to fit legs onto the colander which with a 17.5" kettle would need to be around 3.5" long. Jimmy suggested simple ss nuts and bolts, which would work but would mean a 1" gap all round the top (the colander is only 15"wide on the lower part) so no good lid seal when mashing. The temp probe is also going to have to be at the same height or slightly higher than the element.

Anyone got a 20G brewtech or blichmann they want to part with?
