Wanted: Bottles
Hey guys,
I’m new to homebrewing and have my first batch sitting in the fermentor. I’d like to bottle in a week’s time but am short about 14 liters worth of bottles (I’ve been trying to save bottles since I started with the hobby but highly doubt I’ll accumulate the difference by then). If anybody has any to spare I’d love to buy them off of you. Thanks!
Cheers,
Dan

Re: Wanted: Bottles

Re: Wanted: Bottles
That would probably help haha. I'm easy going in regards to style and size provided the bottles are glass. I've heard the plastic PET bottles can change the flavour of the beer (can anybody confirm or deny this?)

I've used PET with no problem.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Wanted: Bottles
what's your location?
I've got a metric crapton of bottles here... likely enough to cover your whole batch.
they're various sizes though.

Me too. I keep my 650ml/22oz bottles, but all others are fair game (500ml, 355, 12oz), etc. All I ask for is a bottle or two of homebrew as payment.

I've got a good mix of Grolsch and Fisher swingtops that I would also trade for homebrew.

Re: Wanted: Bottles
I'm not certain the PET bottles themselves changed the flavor of my beer, but I stopped using them because they're gas permeable, and you simply can't keep a beer in them for more than a few months (yeah, really, I _can_ keep a beer that long!). otoh, plastics do leach bad things into liquids.Dan wrote:That would probably help haha. I've recently started making seltzer for my wife, and I'm using PET bottles, because she drinks them within two days of gassing them up.
Currently on tap: Nothing!

Re: Wanted: Bottles
Thanks for all the responses guys. I'd be happy with any of those bottles. I don't have any homebrew yet as this is my first batch but how about for a few of your favorite beers from the NSLC? This would probably be easier to coordinate over the phone. Feel free to give me a ring anytime after 4pm. My cell is 488-6514

Re: Wanted: Bottles
here's an ad for some bottles.....seems like a good price for the 650ml bottles..pry offs..$14 for 12dozen. Not a great price on the swingtops though...

Sometimes when I'm low I just go to a recycling center and buy bottles from them... pretty cheap, not the cleanest of bottles sometimes but you'd have to clean them anyway either way no doubt
And it's usually around the price of the deposit.

Re: Wanted: Bottles
i agree, depot is usually great for getting whatever type of bottles you want......a hot soak with oxyclean usually takes care of any grime or labels most times for me.
